Title: Project Manager : SCRUM Master (for Agile Development)
Start date: Immediately (2-weeks notice acceptable) Client Location: Bellevue, WA. Contract, Contract-to-hire, or PERM. (Client fully expects all sorts of PM work after the completion of this initial project and would be very excited about bringing a consultant in for perm hire if it’s a great fit for both parties.) Hourly Rate / Salary Expectation: Open at this point. Travel: Limited. Project manager with SCRUM Master Certification/experience for the re-architecture of clients IMPACT administration system utilizing Agile development. IMPACT is the administration system for their Group division’s Excess Loss business. Two of the three primary IMPACT modules are using 16-bit FoxPro 2.6 that hasn’t been supported by Microsoft for several years; the remaining modules use Visual FoxPro 7.0, support for which will expire September 30, 2006; they need to better align themselves with Microsoft’s strategy for their development platforms by utilizing a supported version of the Visual FoxPro platform as interim, and going forward to the .Net platform. Our client expects this project to extend into 2007. This PM needs to have strong leadership skills and mentoring skills – this is the team’s first experience using Agile and there are challenges with adoption. In addition, there is a lot of management interest in this project, so the PM needs to be effective at communications and at management of stakeholder expectations. This project is already on its second project manager – it was without a project manager for the first year and then had a PM on it that was not a cultural fit. The client then brought in a contractor who is not fully meeting their needs. The current contractor is more of a technical lead than a true project manager - they need an extremely strong PM on this one – not a technical lead. REGARDING SCRUM (Certification): In an effort to gain more information form the client manager, we submitted the following QUESTION: Does this PM need to be Scrum Master Certified per se? What if he or she has experience utilizing SCRUM in PM roles but is not certified? ANSWER FROM CLIENT MANAGER: “Either works – but it needs to be a very strong Scrum master – someone that can lead the team through both the project deliverables and adoption of Agile development.” |
